Chartered in January 1960, The Optimist Club of Malibu's mission was to provide positive role models and mentors to the young men in the Malibu Community. The motto of the club was “friend of the boy”. The club sponsored a Malibu Little League baseball team, held annual Christmas Parties and interacted with youth at Camp Miller. With the admission of women to the club in the 1980’s membership flourished to over one-hundred members. The club expanded its fundraising activities with the Halloween Haunt, Jazz Festival and Pancake Breakfast.

Today the club’s motto is “Friend of Youth”. It continues to support the Malibu Community and in 2005 started a Malibu High School Optimist Club for high school students wishing to contribute to the Optimist Cause. The club also sponsors a youth Home in Eagle Rock. The home recently celebrated its centennial and represents a station of stability away from gangs and violence for many young teens transitioning from lock ups back into society.

We invite you to explore the Malibu Optimist Club Website and feel free to attend any of our weekly Thursday meetings 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Fireside Room on the campus of Pepperdine University!
